We are delighted to announce that SCOUTS South Africa was one of only 5 National Scout Organizations (NSO’s) in Africa selected for a Special Commendation for our ongoing commitment to, and support of, World Scouting’s (WOSM) Messengers of Peace Programme.
The award recognises that your ongoing actions and projects brought relief and comfort to people in need, provided new solutions to improve communities’ lives, and contributed to developing active citizens for a sustainable world.
Frederic Kama-Kama, Regional Director Africa Region has the following message for you, our SSA members: “Congratulations to SCOUTS South Africa on being one of the 5 NSO’s in Africa to have been granted the special Messengers of Peace Award. This recognition is an appreciation for all the efforts made by both young people and adult volunteers towards a better South Africa for all its people. Bravo!”
“We are proud of the acknowledgment of the critical role you as volunteers and young people have had in positively impacting our communities and environment, which accrued in contributing to over 2.3 billion hours of community service towards the SDGs as Messengers of Peace globally”, adds SSA Chief Scout Brendon Hausberger.
“For over 10 years your hard work and dedication to lead and participate in community upliftment, environmental sustainability, and other local activities, has continued to address needs in your neighborhoods. You have been, and continue to work towards, leaving the world a better place than you found it”, Brendon concludes.
