Over the past weekend the Free State Scout Region hosted a successful Rover Camp. With 39 people in attendance, the youth and senior Regional and National leaders discussed the role of youth leadership within Scouting and our communities, as well as the value of being of service as a Rover. Friendships were solidified and fun was had by all.
SCOUTS South Africa’s Chief Commissioner Gary Pienaar attended the event where 25 Rovers were invested. The investiture of more youth into the Movement ties into the Free State’s growth initiative!
When asked for comment, Free State Regional Young Leader’s Representative Katleho Mokoena stated “When given the opportunity to lead, remember it’s about you. It’s about the people you lead and more than anything, the legacy you leave behind.“
The event was also attended by two members of the Lesotho Scout Association with whom SCOUTS South Africa signed a partnership earlier this year.
