A Sneak Peak – 2nd Africa Scout Moot Programme

Safari offsite activity at Dinokeng

The programme for the Moot will consist of a combination of on-site and off-site activities that cover the growth areas and educational objectives set out by World Scouting for a Moot.

Every Patrol will have one overnight adventure where they can experience a special moment in South Africa.

The five options on offer are:

  • Stunning landscapes on Adventure hikes

an overnight camp adjacent to the Dinokeng Big 5 nature reserve,

  • an overnight hike in the unique high-altitude Bankenveld ecosystem to the East of the campsite,
  • an overnight camp in the historic heart of Soweto,
  • an opportunity to experience one of South African Scouting’s great adventures while rowing a pulling boat with your Patrol,
  • or the chance to build and sleep on a raft with your Patrol, something many South African Scouts get to experience at the annual Kon-Tiki event.

Johannesburg Tours

Along with these off-site overnight adventures, each Rover will also have a chance to contribute to Community Service, learn more about service initiatives in South Africa and around the world in the Global Development Village, explore the local lake, and play traditional South African sports and games. Rovers will also get the chance to learn about robotics, radios and other technology at the “Making Base”, reflect on their place in the world in the “Spirituality Zone”, and experience Johannesburg both from a double-decker bus and on foot.
