Being of service is the motto of our Rover programme. This young adult advancement programme is the fourth branch of Scouting in South Africa. 1st Muizenberg Rover Roshé and Scout Group Leader Angela, recently supported the local organisation Rise Against Hunger to pack meals for under-resourced crèches throughout the Western Cape.
“It was my first-time volunteering at this meal packaging event, and it was only for two hours of my whole day. We packed 15 000 sachets in the 2 hours and each sachet feeds up to 6 children. It’s amazing work that they are doing, and I definitely loved being part of the amazing and friendly team” said Roshé. “It’s incredible what only 2 hours out of our whole day can do and how many kids can be fed – and that’s just one of many ways helping those in need!”
