SCOUTS South Africa is proud of our Scouting family in the Central African Republic (CAR)for making such a difference in their communities.Read Mail and Guardian or listen to Radio 702.

In South Africa Scouting members have been stepping up to help children and people in need. With the xenophobic attacks in KZN and the North West, Scouters ran activities and refugee camps for foreign nationals.

In the Western Cape, the Scouting in Schools (SIS) programme is run in local townships and disadvantaged communities. It strives to keep children off the streets and out of gangs by providing them with safe places to learn leadership and life skills after school. The programmes are run by local unemployed youth who receive training and mentorship in a bid to better their own lives and stay away from crime.

In KZN the Scouting in schools programme caters for over 170 000 children from rural villages and townships. The programme gives them a chance to learn real practical skills and values that can set them up for success. Scouting gives them an alternative to crime, promiscuous behaviours and substance abuse.

SCOUTS South Africa (SSA) changes lives by providing youth with education, skills, mentorship, values, opportunities, resources, and safe places to be kids, so they can get out of poverty and have a better future for themselves and their families. The Scouting Messengers of Peace initiative further encourages community service.
